Wizard's First Rule
Submitted by scott on Thu, 07/03/2008 - 10:36am.I just finished reading Wizard's First Rule by Terry Goodkind. I've been reading the Sword of Truth series all out of order. I started on book 9 of the series Chainfire because I saw it at the book store in an MP3 format. I really prefer the audio books in MP3 format already and that one was on 2 discs. This book was also in MP3 format already but in comparison to the number of discs, I listened Phantom (book 10) and it was on 20 discs.

Wikileaks
Submitted by scott on Wed, 05/14/2008 - 2:34pm.Wikileaks has some interesting documents on it. An interesting one is the recent addition of the Mormon Church Handbook of Instruction (1999). I like reading all kinds of documents and books on religions and religious organizations so this was of particular interest to me. If you enjoy that one, then check out the Church of Scientology Operating Thetan document.

Getting a file path in Finder
Submitted by scott on Fri, 05/09/2008 - 4:12pm.Every once in a while you need to get the UNIX style path (aka POSIX) to a file or folder in the Finder. I wrote a little Automator workflow that you can put in your ~/Library/Workflows/Applications/Finder and it will show up in the right click Automator context menu.

Pan Bread
Submitted by scott on Thu, 05/01/2008 - 11:16pm.I'm looking for a good recipe for a non-yeast pan bread that I can cook over a simple camp stove while camping. I've been buying the bread from Cache Lake Camping Foods which is very tasty but expensive. If you haven't tried their breads before, check out the Frying Pan breads selection. I particularly enjoy the Cinnamon Raisin Breakfast bread and the Sweet Potato Fryin' Pan Bread. As much as I like their breads, I want a recipe I can customize and that is less expensive.

Chimay Red
Submitted by scott on Thu, 05/01/2008 - 10:20pm.I'm testing out Chimay Red tonight. I have the other two, Blue and Triple, for the next couple of nights. These are really strong beers and have a really strong flavor. I'm not sure if I want such a strong brew, it over powers a meal.

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale
Submitted by scott on Wed, 04/30/2008 - 11:17pm.I'm trying to figure out what beer to bring with me to Burning Man coming up in August. Today I picked up a couple different ones and tonight's is Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. It has always been one of my favorites. The downside is that it is not available in cans but I could get a keg and avoid bottles altogether. A keg of Pale Ale is about $150 at my local store. On the plus side though, if I do want to bring a case or two of bottles I can get it at Costco for a reasonable price.

Red Wine
Submitted by scott on Tue, 04/29/2008 - 6:16pm.One of my favorite wines still to date is a 1996 Robert Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon. I remember when this wine was available at Costco by the case. I bought many bottles of it and enjoyed them all. It was only a few years later that I began seeing this same vintage really increasing in cost. I remember going into a local Beverages and More store and seeing a single bottle for over $100. I was buying those at Costco for around $20 a bottle and now they were over $100.
