Submitted by scott on Tue, 03/10/2009 - 10:56pm.This is a really good wine. I really enjoyed this with some hearty beef stew. I will get a case of this as I think it will be something to enjoy now. I'd love to try this with a big juicy steak.

2006 Syrah, Qupé, Central Coast, California
Submitted by scott on Tue, 03/10/2009 - 10:33pm.This is a decent wine for the value. If you like syrahs I'd recommend giving this one a try. California is doing a pretty good job on the Syrah varietal.

Outliers: The Story of Success
Submitted by scott on Sat, 03/07/2009 - 9:38pm.I just finished Outliers: The Story of Success by Malcolm Gladwell on the Kindle 2. It is another pretty quick read and very similar to his other two books Blink and Tipping Point. There are some interesting ideas but I feel it is a little light on the scientific evidence and relies a little too much on circumstantial evidence and stories. If you like his other books you'd probably like this one though I'm not really sure I do nor agree with all of it.

2005 Zinfandel, Kenwood Vineyard, Jack London Series, Sonoma Valley, California
Submitted by scott on Sat, 03/07/2009 - 9:23pm.I didn't enjoy this wine at all. I'm not sure what it was about it, but something in the taste of it for me was off. I had a couple other people try it as well and they liked it so it is probably just my preference or I should say my personal dislike of this one. I'll have to try another Zinfandel to test if it is just this varietal I don't like or if just this particular one. Either way I'm not a fan yet.
Available at Spec's for $22

WINE DESCRIPTIONS

2005 Petite Sirah, Parducci, Mendocino County, California
Submitted by scott on Sat, 03/07/2009 - 9:10pm.I really liked this wine. Very smooth and a pleasure to drink. Light on the tannins and a somewhat fruity taste. I'll get a case of this one.
Parducci has a website at http://www.mendocinowineco.com/Parducci.html but it is heavily flash based so I think it does a huge disservice to the winery and the potential customers. I really disliked their site.
