Chardonnay tasting
Submitted by scott on Fri, 02/13/2009 - 9:17pm.I not a fan of white wines but I wanted to give them another shot. I tried the Frank Family 2006 Chardonnay http://www.garlicsoftware.com/node/229 last month and I wasn't really impressed. So I decided to try two Chards this time. If one wasn't good, maybe two would be better. Great logic right. We had a little gathering of friends and everyone had a chance to taste both the oaked and unoaked version.
I tried two Chardonnays from Mer Soleil Vineyard, California http://www.mersoleilvineyard.com
2006 Unoaked Chardonnay, Silver, Santa Lucia Highlands (Available at Spec's for $29)

Submitted by scott on Fri, 02/13/2009 - 8:15pm.I just finished listening to The Neil Gaiman Audio Collection by and read by Neil Gaiman. This is a collection of short children stories and is a pretty quick listen. There is a cute interview at the end of Mr. Gaiman by his daughter.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families
Submitted by scott on Fri, 02/13/2009 - 8:03pm.I just finished reading The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families by Stephen Covey. It is an interesting book and I would recommend it to others to read. It covers more about the relationships between family members but can be applied to just about any group of people, including office co-workers. There are a few items I really didn't agree with but overall I felt it was worth the read.

I really like it when a Winery has all of their information online that I can reference. The Reininger Winery has a very nice site with lots of information about their wines. Check it out at: http://www.reiningerwinery.com They also print their web address on their corks which is a nice idea.

Submitted by scott on Wed, 02/11/2009 - 12:54am.Since I'm getting a Kindle soon I've been on the lookout for sites to download some free books that are in the public domain. Here are a couple that are pretty nice and they both include pdf format as well as Kindle and Sony formats.

2007 Malbec (Mendoza), Crios de Susana Balbo, Argentina
Submitted by scott on Wed, 01/28/2009 - 4:55pm.I shouldn't have tried this wine while having a cold. Sadly my nose is not working and my taste buds are broken. I could only say that what I could smell was a little sweetness which was nice and it did taste fine. My cold is finally waning so I'll have another taste.
Available at Spec's for $13
