The Five Love Languages
Submitted by scott on Wed, 09/09/2009 - 11:13pm.I finished reading The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman. It was interesting to read and the five types of love languages are insightful. I could easily pick out myself from the list but I don't think this has as much value unless you can get your significant other to also read it. This should be an introductory couples book that all new couples should at least read and discuss with each other. They don't have to agree with it all but at least it will really help with the communications.
There is a kids version of this book for parents that I would also like to read.

Some Girls Bite
Submitted by scott on Tue, 08/18/2009 - 10:18pm.I finished reading Some Girls Bite: A Chicagoland Vampire Novel by Chloe Neill. I really liked the book and was draw into in within the first few pages. I've pre-ordered the second book which is out Oct. 6 I believe. If you like vampire novels, this is a pretty good read.
I went to the ArmadilloCon which is a Science Fiction Convention here in Austin, TX. Where I attended among other things a panel discussion on Female Vampire leads in stories. This is where I got the recommendation to read this book.

Blue Ocean Strategy
Submitted by scott on Wed, 07/15/2009 - 11:41pm.I finished reading Blue Ocean Strategy by W. Chan Kim and Renée Mauborgne. My brother recommended it to me so I read it. It covers some interesting business changes that have taken place over the past 20+ years. A couple of the ones I liked were the Cirque du Soleil and the part about the Apple iPod and iTunes store. They make some compelling arguments for creating blue oceans and staying out of the red oceans of competition.

Eastern Standard Tribe
Submitted by scott on Wed, 07/15/2009 - 11:33pm.I finished reading Eastern Standard Tribe by Cory Doctorow. I love the mental health profession bashing in the book along with the defunct legal system. It's sad but I'm sure there are sane people stuck in that vicious cycle in the real world. I'm not including the other people being detained for years without any charges, that is just plain wrong.

I'm beginning to think I read too much. I still have another 3 or 4 more to list that I just finished. And I still have like 7 bottles of wine to review.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Submitted by scott on Wed, 07/15/2009 - 11:18pm.I finished reading The Curious Case of Benjamin Button by F. Scott Fitzgerald. I still haven't seen the movie that was made based on this story so I can't compare them but the story was interesting if pretty short. I didn't realize this book was in the public domain now. I thought it was a recent title since there was a movie on it, little did I know.

I, Robot
Submitted by scott on Wed, 07/15/2009 - 11:03pm.I finished reading I,Robot by Cory Doctorow. I love that he put a bunch of his material up with the Creative Commons license. This one I downloaded from Feedbooks. Being a fan of Asimov this story was kind of funny to read.
You can buy the story as part of a collection called Overclocked.
