I've graduated to the next error message after the phone was updated finally to the 2.0 version. The new one is: "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (-4). There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please try again later."

I was trying to upgrade my first generation iPhone to the new 2.0 software version so I could try out some of the new applications and ran into a snag. It seems that the Apple iTunes Store is down or at least overloaded such that I can't activate my phone now. The error message I'm getting is: "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (-9838). There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please try again later."

I'm at the Apple World Wide Developer's Conference in San Francisco, CA.

Here are a few of my thoughts on the iPhone after using one for several days. I picked up two of them when they were released.

Nice things I like about iPhone:

• Activation is currently the best in the industry. Buy your phone and go home to activate with iTunes. This is similar to the way the pay as you go phones work, without the iTunes part though. I hope the rest of the industry can do this and get rid of the clerk having to waste time to activate the phones in the store at traditional cellular phone outlets.
  

So what is the next Mac coming down the line? That is the big question on my mind as a Macintosh software developer. I want to know so that I can start thinking about the next killer application that will change the world. Lofty goals I know, but humor me.
